Every man deserves to be stylish, from the man in a white collar job to the man in a blue collar job. Concentrating on the everyday man, here are five style essentials for the ‘typical bus conductor’.
Recently, a windscreen washer, Abdulahi Olatoyan, who dressed in a suit and a bowtie was discovered and featured on CNN and
his life was transformed. In lieu of that, here are the basic pieces
that a Nigerian bus conductor needs to be effective at his job, while
standing out stylishly:
Denim jeans:
The
bus conductor is a runner. They are constantly moving, so to mix style
and reality, a good pair of slim or straight cut denim pants will be
ideal. Denim doesn’t have to be washed all the time and can be worn over
and over without wearing out.
Plain dark colored tee:
Bus
conductors are constantly working under the hot sun. To keep things
cool and simple, a plain short sleeve crew neck t-shirt will be great to
pair with the denim pants and are inexpensive. In addition, get them in
dark colors in case of grime and stains.
Plastic water proof watch:
It’s
good to look professional no matter what you do and watches are a mark
of class. Since they would be running around with the potential to
scratch surfaces and such, I would advise a wristwatch that can resist
the rain and won’t break or smash.
Sneakers:
This
is the last piece in the puzzle. The trade mark of the Nigerian bus
conductor is running. There is nothing more appropriate for runners than
running shoes but in this case more fashionable sneakers since we are
trying to achieve a more presentable effect.
What not to wear ever:
Leather lace up shoes:
The
point of being presentable is not to wear things just because they look
nice, you have to dress the part. Thus, wearing lace up leather shoes
that are inappropriate for running or don’t do well in the rain are
always a bad idea for the bus conductor.
